Scope of Work

  • Design and installation of several sections of sheet pile bulkheads.
  • Design and installation of pedestrian/golf cart bridge.
  • Maintenance dredging.

Over the past 17 years, H.B. Fleming has been fortunate to work with MVYC on several individual projects that are part of an overall effort to replace and upgrade their existing bulkhead system.

The existing bulkhead system generally consists of a concrete gravity wall. Through the years, portions of the existing concrete wall have deteriorated to the point that collapse of the wall has become a concern. Working with MVYC, we have developed a bulkhead system that satisfies several requirements.

The new bulkhead system consists of tied-back coated steel sheet piles and a coated steel channel cap. This approach allows the wall system to be flexible with respect to matching the existing wall alignment. It also provides a durable and easily maintained wall and cap that will provide many years of service. By using steel sheet piles and a steel cap, providing openings for utilities and attaching docks and brackets is easy and reliable.

We have also worked with MVYC on other aspects of their upgrading and maintenance plan. We designed and installed a bridge that allows pedestrian and golf cart traffic from one side of the property to the other without traveling on a heavily trafficked public road. We have also performed maintenance dredging for a sediment basin located within the yacht club’s property.
