In 1955, Howard Fleming and Ray Erickson created H.B. Fleming, a company which, at that time, focused mainly in pile driving and marine work. Howard built and managed the business daily and Ray acted as an executive partner.
Since that time, the company has changed ownership twice. In 1973 Richard Ingalls and Don Erickson bought H.B. Fleming after working in the field for several years. In 1994, Dean Sciaraffa and John Linscott purchased the company and are the current owners.
During the 1970's and 1980's the company continued driving pile and installing marine pipes as a specialty contractor. The company thrived until the early 90's when they were forced to downsize due to the recession. H.B. Fleming made a tremendous comeback in the mid 1990's when Dean and John took over and began to focus on pile driving and expanding the cofferdam and excavation support business.
Over the past 45 years, H.B. Fleming has expanded to include, not only pile driving; but excavation support, cofferdams, subaqueous pipelines, design build bridges, and retaining walls. All of which can be reviewed in the links listed below.
The company's resources include a highly skilled full-time work force supported by eight cranes, eight pile hammers, nine welding machines, a large inventory of sheet pile and all of the necessary transportation equipment. The majority of the work is in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
H.B. Fleming has an outstanding reputation for quality and professionalism. Many of our contracts have been granted based on this reputation that the company continually strives to maintain.
